La Paz, Bolivia January 2009 by Philip Muller

Philip Muller and I met on a boat, heading back from the

"Isla del Sol" right in the middle of lake Titicaca, where we had been all day. Pablo Olivares and Sebastian Rusca, two Argentineans from Cordoba were also there. We became acquainted and we got on so well that we decided to make our way down to the border and we all spent about 5 days together.

I do retain very fond memories from all of them and the of time we shared together.

Back in La Paz, Philip - a photographer from Belgium who lives in Chile working for various Surf magazines and publications -

and I decided to go for a long walk around the city of La Paz.

We ended up in one of the "miradors" from which one can have a magnificent view of the city. Truly impressive as it is the arrival from El Alto.

One can never forget the sheer emotion of seeing the andean city as it appears when the road opens into the valley.

Philip took this photograph of me before the football stadium where nobody manages to score a win.

Apart form the bolivians of course.

The lack of oxygen makes almost impossible to move and the simplest of efforts is exhausting.

So though we had to chew coca leaves, we finally made it to the very top. It was simply wonderful. ( The image below...I took it)

Algunas fotos del viaje de fin de año a Marrakech.

En el avión ya de regreso, después de la espera en el aeropuerto de Marrakech. Lo cierto es que para ser día 1 de Enero tenemos un aspecto muy bueno.

La cena en un estupendo restaurante en la medina. Empezando por la izquierda Sara Dauge, Sonia Tomás, Carme Castellnou, Alon Eldar, Elisabet Cristiá, Iñigo Bujedo, Arola Tous, Ana Lopez y Eugenia Mestres. Ni que decir tiene que la disparidad numérica entre hombres y mujeres hizo que a algún personaje local no le acabaran de salir las cuentas.

La última fotos es de la primera noche el Jemaa el Fna. 23 años después estaba de regreso.

Aunque cueste creerlo, esta fotografía (las dos en realidad) fueron tomadas en pleno Raval barcelonés, en la calle de la Reina Amalia, frente a la casa de Eva Santana. Este es también el escenario donde termina el video Itineraris que puede verse en este blog y precisamente en ese video hay una secuencia que enseño una fotografía en mi pantalla del ordenador, que no es otra que la que hice el mismo día y preciso momento en que Marcelo Isarrualde me hizo esta foto.
