Casa en Puigcerdá- AVA Studio SCP 2018

El Valle de la Cerdanya tiene una extensión tal que dispone de un plan de grandes dimensiones y el Golf de la Cerdanya, de los años 60, se emplazó en medio de este plan, con vistas panorámicas a 360 grados. El contexto arquitectónico La primera fase del golf con promoción de viviendas es del 1960 y la realizó el arquitecto Antonio Bonet Castellana, lo que le brinda un entorno cultural de alto valor.
La casa busca la horizontalidad de sus volúmenes, de acuerdo con este contexto, enmarcando las vistas lejanas hacia la Sierra del Cadí también de forma horizontal. El volumen se sitúa al fondo del solar, con la fachada más larga y abierta orientada a Sur y en vistas. Esta disposición permite que el conjunto se proteja de las corrientes de viento del Norte y su compacidad optimiza su comportamiento térmico. Aparte de las vistas lejanas, se ha buscado también la relación con el bosque existente, aportando más riqueza tanto en los espacios interiores como los exteriores y también con el campo de trigo de la parte Norte, que es observado desde el interior a través de una secuencia de aberturas verticales.
A nivel formal, se decide trabajar a partir de una unidad básica. Escoge como referencia la nave a dos aguas, construcción típica de granja de animales, que se puede ver en varios emplazamientos del valle. Nos interesaba explorar cómo se puede llegar a desarrollar esta sencilla construcción para adaptarse a las necesidades que pedían tanto el contexto cultural y físico como el programa de necesidades del cliente ( AVA Studio SCP)

Mies Architecture Award 2019 - Cité du Grand Parc, Bordeaux, France by Lacaton & Vasal (2016)

The EU Mies van der Rohe Award 2019 have been announced in the presence of the president of the jury, Dorte Mandrup, in a press conference held on Wednesday, April 10 in the Centre for Fine Arts BOZAR, in Brussels.
After visiting the five finalist works the jury has decided to award the Prize to the transformation of 530 dwellings in Grand Parc Bordeaux (FR) by Lacaton & Vassal architects, Frédéric Druot Architecture and Christophe Hutin Architecture. The client is AQUITANIS, home public office of Bordeaux Métropole. The project is rewarded for its innovative renovation of three huge apartment buildings, which by extending the facade gives to all dwellings extra space, light and comfort.
An innovative renovation of three large blocks of social housing in Bordeaux that radically improves the space and the quality of life of its occupants and optimizes the economic and environmental costs.

Biblioteca de Palafolls en Barcelona by @embtarchitects Miralles Tagliabue 2007. El Ayuntamiento de Palafolls, convocó un concurso para realizar una biblioteca en la periferia de su casco urbano. Este municipio demostró una inquietud poco usual a la hora de elegir su arquitectura; es por eso que el arquitecto japonés Arata Isozaki, creador del Palauet de Palafolls, entre otras obras; le recomendó al alcalde de este pueblo que Enric Miralles fuera quien diseñe la nueva Biblioteca Municipal.#palafolls #library #arquitectura #cataluña #catalunya #barcelona #barcelonaphotography #mirallestagliabue

“The Changing City”, Barcelona 2003. For the last 15 years I have been documenting the transformation of Barcelona’s Poble Nou and the urban regeneration prompted by the development of the 22@ technological district. During this time I have built a comprenhensive portfolio of iconic images of many the projects that were built afterwards. This photograph was the starting point of a long term project which I began to shoot on film though I later moved onto digital. A view of Can Framis before the construction of Fundació Vila Casas by Jordi Badía / BAAS . The old factory stands in ruins before the Torre Agbar.  The Cities Program at the London School of Economics headed by Ricky Burdett curated the series of photographs for an exhibition at the Corriere del Arsenale at the X Architecture Venice Bienale.
